In the upper part - "HAWAI'I VOLCANOES" (Hawaiian volcanoes);
In the bottom - to the left "HAWAII" (Hawaii) and on the right "E PLURIBUS UNUM" (the motto of the USA - from many - uniform).
Also in the lower part is the year of coinage in the form of a horizontal inscription "2012".

Hawaiian volcanoes are located in the center of the Pacific Ocean on the largest of the Hawaiian Islands. Almost continuously erupting, they do not produce explosions and throw out the lava evenly, so with security, there is a unique opportunity to face the formidable and beautiful phenomenon of nature face to face. The living museum of active volcanoes became the national park of the USA in 1916, and in the 90s it received the status of the International Biosphere Reserve and was declared by UNESCO a protected territory.

In the national park is the leader among the active volcanoes - Kilauea and the most massive on earth - Mauna Loa. They belong to shield volcanoes, the relief of which is formed by a large number of lava. Similar to the gently sloping shield, Mauna Loa occupies half the area of the island. Kilauea almost continuously erupts since 1983. In its cone there is a depression, at the bottom of which a lava lake is bubbling, scattering fountains in the neighborhood. Lava also bursts out of dozens of smaller craters.

On the territory of the park, flora and fauna developed in a unique spread from the rainforests to the lifeless Kau desert, covered with hardened lava and watered with acid rain. In the humid tropics at the foot of volcanoes ferns and shrubs prevail. Animals are few, except for turtles, but quite a few rare birds with bright plumage, such as the black and scarlet and fiery Hawaiian flower girl.

For those who wish to enjoy the eruptions and volcanic landscapes, special safe routes have been developed, there are opportunities for camping. Almost 2 million people yearly go to the islands to see the craters, geysers, lava flows, beaches with black sand and feel the supernatural power of the underground forces.
