The El Yunque National Forest is a tropical nature reserve located in the southeast of Puerto Rico. The Caribbean National Forest, often called El Yunque, covers an area of more than 11,000 hectares and is the only tropical forest in the United States.

Wild thickets, waterfalls, exotic animals and plants with two-meter leaves - all this is extremely attractive for tourists. The lush nature is irrigated by frequent tropical showers. Long ago this area was called Rain Forest (Rain Forest) - for a year here spills 200 million liters of precipitation.

El-Yunke is famous for its ferns - there are 150 species of this plant. Of the 240 species of trees, 23 grow only in the Caribbean forest, 50 species of orchids, including dwarf ones, can be found on its territory. Reptiles, amphibians, birds are represented by exotic species, such as the Puerto Rican parrot.

The largest forest celebrity, which became an unofficial symbol of Puerto Rico, is the little leafy frog Koki. Tiny amphibians 3-5 cm in size produce sounds up to 100 dB, so a colony of frogs can stun a person - this kind of "chorus" is called "hellish chanting" by locals.

El-Junke - the oldest American reserve, the status of the protected he received back in 1876. A hundred years later, the forest was recognized as a biosphere reserve under UN protection. The tropical forest of Puerto Rico provides all the amenities for travelers: information centers, excursions, forest hiking trails and transport roads, observation towers, from which fabulous landscapes with bright colors, dense fogs and magnificent waterfalls open.
