25 cents (a quarter) of 2018 from the National Parks series - the 43rd Voyagers National Park.

The park was named after French salespeople who were the first European settlers in the lands of the modern park. Salespeople (from the French. "Commis" - "employee" and "vojageur" - "traveler") were called traveling representatives of trading companies who bought fur from Indians (mostly beaver fur). At the end of the XIX century. large-scale logging began in these places, numerous sawmills were built, dams appeared on the rivers. In the summer of 1893, gold was discovered on the Rainy Lake (Rainy Lake). In 1894, the development of the field began, the city of Rainy Lake (Rainy Lake City) grew nearby, in which several hundred people lived, there were a school, a bank, a department store, hotels, restaurants, its own newspaper, hardware store, butcher’s and several bars. However, gold mining did not bring benefits, and by 1901 the city of Rainy Lake had ceased to exist. Since then, many abandoned mines and other traces of diggers have been preserved on the territory of the national park. Several urban buildings have been preserved, the foundations of some buildings, the places along which the streets passed can be seen.

The main wealth of the park is its water resources: Rainy river and four large lakes. Of these, the largest is Rainy Lake (length - 97 km, maximum depth - 49 m), the smallest - Place of sand (Sand Point Lake; length - 13 km, maximum depth - 56 m). On the river and lakes tourists catch fish.

At the end of the XIX century. there were large fishing settlements here, 8 fishing companies operated in the region, by 1910s. There were 48 family-owned enterprises engaged in commercial fishing. The main product of production was caviar of sturgeon fish, which lived in abundance in lakes. However, it was expensive and inconvenient to take fish to markets from here, so by the 1930s. large-scale fishing stopped. In the park there are still some ruins and separate buildings of the old fishing villages. The Oveson’s fish camp is almost entirely preserved. You can visit the house of the owner of the company Harry Ovezon, the glacier (refrigerator) and the fish processing building.

When the territory of the park received protected status, there were many private properties on and near it. In 1975, the park had 12 resorts and more than 120 private entertainment facilities. Many owners sold land and buildings to the park. One of the most famous and attractive buildings for tourists is the Kettle Falls Hotel, located between Lake Namakan and Rainy Lake. It was built as a resort hotel in 1910 by Edom Rose, who grew rich in mining. The building is located in a quiet and picturesque place on the lake, in the summer it can only be reached by boat. In 1976, Kettle Falls was listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

Obverse: In the center of the coin, the portrait of President George Washington is depicted to the left (shown in the restored version of the original portrait, used since 1932 on the coin-quarter). The top of the semicircle is the name of the issuing country: UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, the semicircle below shows the denomination of the coin - QUARTER DOLLAR. To the left of the portrait, the word LIBERTY (FREEDOM) is minted, to the right in several lines - IN GOD WE TRUST (WE BELIEVE IN GOD) and the letter of the mint.
