25 cents (quater) 2015 from the series National Parks - 28th Motorway Blue Ridge State of North Carolina.

Obverse: In the center of the coin is a portrait of President George Washington to the left (shown in the restored version of the original portrait, used since 1932 on coin-kvarterah). Above the semicircular name of the issuing country: UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, in the semicircle the value of the coin is written - QUARTER DOLLAR. To the left of the portrait is minted the word LIBERTY (FREEDOM), on the right in a few lines - IN GOD WE TRUST (WE BELIEVE IN GOD) and the letter of the mint.

Reverse: The center of the coin shows the grace of the road around the mountain, and the flower of North Carolina in the foreground. Near the edge of the coin a semicircular inscription:
In the upper part - "BLUE RIDGE PARKWAY" (Blue Ridge Highway);
In the lower - to the left "NORTH CAROLINA" (North Carolina) and on the right "E PLURIBUS UNUM" (the motto of the USA is "from many - one"). Also in the lower part is the year of coinage in the form of a horizontal inscription "2015".

The Blue Ridge Parkway is a protected park road, known all over the world for its beautiful views. This place is the most visited landmark among all the US National Parks.

The length of the motorway is 755 kilometers. It runs mainly along the famous Blue Ridge Mountains, which is part of the Appalachian mountain range. The southernmost point of the route is located in North Carolina in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. From here, it moves north to the Shenandoah National Park in Virginia, where it meets with the Drive Skyline. Blue Ridge Parkway and Drive Skyline are two separate freeways. But in general, this is an important road artery, passing through picturesque parks and connecting two states. Throughout the route there are many camping sites and parking lots located in places where you can admire the stunning views.

Work on the construction of the road began during the presidency of Franklin D. Roosevelt, and the project was originally called "Scenic Appalachian Highway." The first stone was laid on September 11, 1935 in the mountains of Cumberland in North Carolina. In Virginia, construction in the opposite direction began in February next year. June 30, 1936 by the US Congress, the project was officially named Blue Ridge Parkway and transferred to the National Park Service.
The construction of the route lasted more than 52 years. The erection of a vast network of highways was one of the ways Roosevelt proposed to lead the country out of the Great Depression. Thus, the construction of the Blue Ridge road is of great historical significance for Americans. Thousands of unemployed from all over the Americas were able to get a job here.

The finishing touch was the erection of the Linn Cove Viaduct viaduct in the Grandfather Mountain area in 1987. Throughout the route there are many tunnels, one of them is located in Virginia and 25 in North Carolina. And over the canyons and rivers, 168 bridges and six viaducts were built.

In winter, often parts of the road are closed. Because of frequent rains, low clouds, dense fog, negative temperatures and features of mountain water, at the top of the route a thick layer of ice forms on the route. As the weather in the mountains is extremely variable, in winter time the maintenance of the road is simply not done.

Travel by road for everyone, except for commercial vehicles, is free of charge. There is a speed limit of 70 km per hour, and in some areas the speed limit is even lower.
American culture and automobile travel are inextricably linked. Traveling on the Blue Ridge highway can take from one to three days, it will surely be the most memorable journey on the roads of America.
