Leopard tortoise, or panther tortoise (Stigmochelys pardalis syn. Geochelone pardalis) is a species of land turtles. The second largest African tortoise (after sporiferous).

A large turtle, its shell length reaches 70 cm. The mass of an adult individual may be 50 kg. Males differ from females in a longer tail, there is a recess on their plastron. The shell of a leopard tortoise is high, dome-shaped. Its main color is sandy-yellow. Young turtles on their carapaces have a distinct dark brown, almost black, pattern. With age, it gradually smoothes out. Panther turtles from Ethiopia have a weaker pigmentation than any other.
