Obverse: in the center of the coin is a portrait of Queen Margrethe of Denmark. Around the portrait there is an inscription: "MARGRETE II ♥ DANMARK DRONNING" (Margret II Korrleva of Denmark). The right lower part of the coin denotes the initials of the designer of the aves coin: "HW" (Henrik Viberg). In the left lower part of the coin are the initials of the designer of the reverse coin: "JS" (Janet Skov Jensen). The "♥" sign in the upper central part of the coin denotes a mint in Copenhagen.

Reverse: in the center of the coin there is an image of the handwritten "M", which is the original hand-written version of the painting of the queen. In the upper central part of the coin the years of Queen Margrethe II's life are designated: "1940 - 2015". In the lower part of the coin denomination is denominated: "20 KRONER" (20 kroons).
