Amerigo Vespucci is an Italian training sailing ship.

Three-deck sailer Amerigo Vespucci is a reminiscence of the linear steamship-sailboat of the 50-60s. XIX century. It was launched in February 1931 in Naples.

It is a training sailboat for the officers of the Naval Academy of Livorno Italian Navy. Sailing armament: three masts (fok-mast, mainmast and bizan-mast). The sailing rig is traditional, it can show all conceivable aspects of sail management.

The sailing vessel repeatedly crossed the Atlantic and participated in sailing festivals.

Together with "Amerigo Vespucci" in the beginning of the thirties of the last century another similar vessel was built called "Christopher Columbus". In 1949, it was transferred to USSR reparations. "Christopher Columbus" was renamed the "Danube" and it walked along the Black Sea until 1963, and in 1970 it was dismantled in the Odessa port.

The Gilbert Islands are a group of islands in the western Pacific Ocean, in Micronesia. They were part of the English colony of the Gilbert Islands and Ellis. Currently belong to the State of Kiribati. Include 16 coral atolls. The administrative center of Tarawa.
