William McKinley - politician, who became the 25th president of the United States in the list, and the first - in the twentieth century. He was born in 1843, fought in the civil war, was engaged in the legal profession. From 1877 he worked in Congress from the Republican Party. Gradually, he stood out as the representative of a large industrial group, defending the extreme protectionism. His name was called tariff McKinley, 1890, to reduce the level of foreign trade high tariffs to protect domestic production.
