John Calvin Coolidge served as US president from 1923 to 1929. He was nominated by the Republican Party and became the 30th in the list of heads of state.

Calvin Coolidge was born in 1872 in Vermont, from an early age to aim high and aspired to a public career. After becoming governor of Massachusetts, held conservative views, while in 1919 showed a rare rigidity to striking a police officer. Having earned a reputation as a defender of law and order, in 1920 was awarded the post of vice-president at Warren Harding, a sudden death which allowed Coolidge occupy a high position already in 1923.

The new president did not have the charisma and eloquence, quickly got the nickname Silent Cal, but he fell a good time lifting the 20-ies of the economy, which in the view of Americans made it a guarantor of stability, strength and prosperity. In 1924 he was unconditionally elected for a second term. The main principle of Coolidge proclaimed non-interference of the state in the economy. The most taciturn president was the author of a winged phrase: "The main thing is the American business."

The achievements Coolidge applies a series of laws aimed at the future of the country, as well as enabling the Indians citizenship. At the same time there was an uncontrolled activities of big businessmen and speculative exchange transactions. The most striking event of the foreign policy became Covenant on evasion of military action, signed by more than 60 countries in 1928, which at least temporarily guarantee stability in the world.

Being at the peak of popularity, Coolidge announced non-participation in the elections in 1928. After leaving office, he settled in Northampton and was engaged in writing activities. He died of a heart attack in 1933 at 60 years of age.
