Slovenia. 2 euros. 2016 25 years of Independence.

After the death of the ideological leader of Yugoslavia, Josip Broz Tito (1945-1980), ethnic conflicts escalated in the country. By the end of the 1980s, in Slovenia, as in most other countries of the Union, the idea of self-determination prevailed. On January 11, 1989, the Slovenian Democratic Union was founded.

In July 1990, the Declaration of Sovereignty of Slovenia was adopted, which states that Yugoslav laws are valid in the republic only for the reason that they do not contradict the local constitution. On December 23, 1990, a referendum was held, in which 88.5% of those who voted voted for the independence of the country. On June 25, 1991, Slovenia declared its independence. During the 10-day (June 26 - July 7) war with the Yugoslav army, Slovenia defended its right for independence. In July, a peace agreement was concluded, and later the troops of the Yugoslav People's Army were withdrawn from the territory of the Republic of Slovenia. On December 23, 1991, the country's constitution was adopted. On May 22, 1992, she was admitted to the UN.
