Giant shrew (lat. Sorex mirabilis) - a mammal of the family of shrews. This is one of the largest shrews. She is one of the largest representatives of the genus Shrew - the length of her body reaches almost 10 cm, and weight - up to 14 g. Body color is brownish-brown, on the underside of the body is lighter and duller. On the face, long (up to 3 cm) light gray vibrissae stand out well. It mainly lives in moist areas of deciduous and coniferous-deciduous forests. It feeds on earthworms, as well as nods, which other species of shrew do not eat. A day eats in food 2-2.5 times its own weight. Propagated once a year. A giant shrew is listed in the Red Book of Russia as "a rare relict endemic species with a declining population."
