25 cents (quarter) 2022 2nd of the Women of America series - Astronaut Sally Ride.

Sally Ride is the first American woman to go into space. Until 2021, she was also the youngest American female astronaut. It is noteworthy that the space flight with astronaut Sally Ride took place in 1983 only 20 years after the flight of Valentina Tereshkova.

Included in the Astronaut Hall of Fame. This is a museum in Florida dedicated to space exploration.

In 2013, Barack Obama posthumously awarded Sally Ride the Presidential Medal of Freedom, the highest civilian award in the United States.

Obverse: Center right depicts a portrait of President George Washington right (portrait originally drawn and sculpted by Laura Hardin Fraser. This was the recommended design for the 1932 Washington Bicentennial Quarter, but then-Treasury Secretary Mellon ultimately chose John Flanagan's design, facing left). At the top, the word LIBERTY (LIBERTY) is minted in a semicircle, on the right in several lines - IN GOD / WE / TRUST (WE BELIEVE IN GOD) and the letter of the mint.

Reverse: A portrait of astronaut Sally Ride next to the space shuttle window. her quote: "But when I wasn't working, I used to look out the window at the Earth." The inscription "E PLURIBUS UNUM" is deliberately placed above the Earth next to America, indicating that of all the women in the United States, Dr. Ride was the first in space. On the left side are the initials of the designer Elana Hagler, and on the right side are the initials of the engraver Phoebe Hemphill.
