India 5 rupees 2010. 1000 years of the Brahadiswarar temple.

This is the largest, most majestic and richest temple in India, dedicated to Shiva. Once it was a fortress. Now it is a functioning temple and a favorite place for tourists to visit. The Shiva Temple was built during the era of the Chola dynasty and is its best monument. The temple was built quickly - in 25 years (985-1009).
