Austria 5 euro 2014 Arctic adventure.

Reverse: There is depicted in the foreground, with its sweet and pleasant cub, the world's largest land predator, menacing polar bear. Ship stuck in ice and sea lions leaning out of the sea.

The coin was struck at the Mint of Austria to celebrate the official opening of the Arctic archipelago of Franz Josef Land, the Austro-Hungarian researchers in 1873, as well as the opening of a new polar bear. Time has long reign of the ruling Emperor Franz Joseph I, it was a time of great innovation and discovery. The task was to find the Northeast passage and reaching the North Pole. On the North Pole expedition sailed in the summer of 1872, but the ship is stuck in ice. For several weeks, it lasted captivity, during which she came across the archipelago.
