Lithuania 1.5 euros 2019. Uzhgavenes (Maslenitsa)

The Bank of Lithuania issued a coin - Uzhgavenes (Maslenitsa), which is part of the “Traditional Holidays of Lithuania” series.

Uzhgavenes (lit. Užgavėnės, "zagovhenie") - Lithuanian holiday meeting spring, celebrated on the eve of Ash Wednesday. He has many features that bring him closer to the Slavic Maslenitsa, and undoubtedly, its origins also lie in pagan antiquity.

Reverse: the main characters of Uzhgavenes are depicted: in the center - there is an effigy of winter, which is surrounded by mummers in a round dance. The composition is surrounded by the inscriptions: the name of the holiday is UŽGAVĖNĖS and the slogan of the celebration: ŽIEMA, ŽIEMA, BĖK IŠ KIEMO!
