Gilbert Islands 1 dollar 2014 Victory.

On May 7, 1765, one of the most famous ships of the sailing age, called Victory, was launched onto the water (in the translation "Victory"). The ship "Victory" was laid July 23, 1759 at the shipyard in Chatham, for its construction, the ship's masters D. Lock and E. Allin. The sailboat combined extraordinary beauty and wild explosive power with the size of 100 cannons of various calibers ranging from 6-pound to several tens of 42-pound.
The thickness of the body reached 60 centimeters, made of two layers of plating, fixed among themselves a lot of steel bolts. For the manufacture of the ship it was necessary to chop down a whole forest, over 2500 trees, mostly long elms and oaks. The number of showers on the ship ranged from 850 to 950 people. But despite all the scale, the ship is the second largest, second only to the Spanish giant Santicima Trinidad.

Active participation in hostilities began in 1778.
July 27, 1778 - Battle of the Island of Wessan
February 14, 1797 - the Battle of St. Vincent
During the Battle of Trafalgar in 1805, he was Nelson's flagship, on which Horatio Nelson himself was killed. Nevertheless, an important victory was achieved, after which no one doubted that the British Navy was the most powerful on the planet.

This is one of the few ships that has survived to this day. He was decommissioned in 1812 with the fleet, but on this his adventures did not end. At one time he stood without masts as an ordinary warehouse, but then Admiral D. Srdi stood up for the ship and actually saved him - the ship was soon to be flooded. The ship was restored several times, during the Second World War it received a 4-meter hole from the bomb, it was repaired again after the war, and at the moment the sailing vessel is in Portsmouth Port, it is a museum and the goal of pilgrimage of millions of tourists.
