Gilbert Islands 1 dollar 2014 Mayflower.
Mayflower (English Mayflower, which is literally translated as "May flower", as the Hawthorne is called in England) is an English merchant ship (the type of which is most often defined as a galleon), in which the English, who founded one of the first British settlements in North America, In 1620 they crossed the Atlantic Ocean.
On the morning of September 16, 1620, the ship, headed by Captain Christopher Jones, left the English city of Plymouth. One hundred and two immigrants were on board: forty-one adult men, nineteen women and children, and at least two dogs. One child was born during the voyage, another was born on a ship on November 20, before justification in Plymouth. The crew of the ship was 25-30 people. They called themselves "pilgrims".
The dimensions of the "Mayflower", displacement of only 180 tons, did not allow passengers to stay with amenities. On November 11 (21), 1620, rounding Cape Cod, the ship anchored off the coast of Plymouth and pilgrims moored to the Plymouth rock (now a national monument). On the ship pilgrims leaders William Brewster and William Bradford signed the Mayflower Agreement, which became the guide for the newly founded Plymouth colony.
Used as a merchant ship on flights between England, France, Spain and Norway. From 1609 to 1622 the captain was Christopher Jones. The fate of the ship after his death in 1623 is vague. English historian Charles Banks believes that the Mayflower was dismantled for wood.
