Transnistria. 1 ruble 2018. Red Book - Swan Mute.
Swan-mute (Latin Cygnus olor) - a bird from the family of ducks. This swan has a very long neck, an elongated trunk, a body and a head of medium size with an orange-red beak, at the base of which there is a characteristic black outgrowth. Shypoon is named because of the sound, published at irritation.
The Mute Swan dwells in the northern part of Europe and Asia. Everywhere is pretty rare. However, with the help of humans, this species of swans has successfully taken root in North America, South Africa, Australia. Inhabits overgrown with aquatic vegetation water bodies - limans, lakes, sometimes swamps. Floating, the mute often bends the neck in the shape of the Latin letter "S", and sometimes lifts the wings, so it is easy to distinguish it from other swans by a characteristic silhouette.
Hunting for swans was completely banned in the 1960s. Since then, there has been a steady increase in the number of swans as a result of protection and human nutrition. The mute easily acclimates to captivity and semi-captivity, often found on the reservoirs of city parks, gardens, various sanatoriums as a decorative bird.

Reverse: the mute swan is depicted. Along the edge of the coin there are arc inscriptions: at the top - "RED BOOK TRANSNISTRIA", at the bottom - "SWAN SHIPOON - CYGNUS OLOR".
