The coin is dedicated to an important topic - climate change and scientific research in this area. It is expected that the temperature in Finland and the level of the Baltic Sea will increase. A lot of money needs to be invested in climate change research to be prepared for the big challenges ahead.

Obverse: a bushy form of a lichen (usnei bearded) is depicted. Above the nose is the sign of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Finland. About the year of the minting of the coin, at the bottom right is the abbreviation of the name of the issuing country (letters FI). Around the circumference of the bimetallic 2 euros, stars are customarily minted, symbolizing the European Union.

Reverse: Corresponds to the decoration of the front side of the Eurozone 2 euro coins: the map of Europe is located on the right side. There are six vertical lines on the background of the map.
