Norway 5 kroner 1986. 300th anniversary of the Mint
In 1626, a mint was founded in Christiania (Oslo), using silver from the Kongsberg mine for minting. In 1686, the courtyard was moved to Kongsberg and became part of the Kongsberg silver mine in order to mint coins at the site of silver mining. The connection with the mine continued until its silver reserves were exhausted in 1957. In 1962, the mint was transferred to the Norwegian Bank. In 2000, the mint was transformed into a limited liability company. In 2004, the company name "Royal Norwegian Mint" was changed to "The Norwegian Mint". The yard symbol is crossed hammers.
Obverse: in the center, in a circle, the emblem of the Kongsberg mint - a crossed hammer and pickaxe, topped with a crown. On the left, top and right along the edge there is an inscription in Norwegian: “DEN KONGELIGE MYNT” - royal coin, below - the name of the country framed by dots: “NORGE” - Norway.
Reverse: in the center, in a circle, a double image of two human faces. Below it is the letter of the Kongsberg mint. Along the circumference of the edge there are inscriptions in Norwegian: “1686 KONGSBERG 1986”, “5 KRONER” - Kongsberg, 1686 - 1986, 5 kroner.
