In 1712, June 26 in the presence of Peter I the first battleship "Poltava" was launched. "Poltava" - Russian 54-gun sailing ship of the line of rank 4, Launched 15 (26) June 1712 from the slipway of the St. Petersburg Admiralty. In the construction of the ship I was personally involved Peter I. The ship was named in honor of an important victory won by the Russian army over the Swedes at Poltava, and the first line ship, built and laid in the St. Petersburg Admiralty. During his service, from 1712 to 1732, "Poltava" was part of the Baltic fleet, until the end of the Great Northern War took part in the naval campaigns of six, and later participated in the practical voyages Kronstadt squadron in the Baltic Sea.
