Annie Jump Cannon (Eng. Annie Jump Cannon; 1863-1941) - American astronomer.

Born in Dover, Delaware, graduated from Wellesley College in 1884. Since 1896 she worked at the Harvard Observatory.

Major works in the field of spectral classification of stars and the study of variable stars. She continued the work on the spectral classification of stars begun by V. Fleming and A.K. Mori under the direction of E. C. Pickering at the Harvard Observatory. She classified all the stars contained in the Henry Draper Catalog (vols. 91-99 of the Harvard Annals), the Continuation of the Henry Draper Catalog, as well as the stars in the Yale catalog and the catalog compiled in the observatory on Cape of Good Hope. In total, Cannon classified the spectra of about 350,000 stars. Based on the "Henry Draper's Catalog", she carried out, together with X. Shapley, statistical studies of the distribution of stars by magnitudes and spectral classes. In 1903 and 1907 compiled catalogs of variable stars. She discovered about 300 variables and 5 new stars, most of them according to their spectral characteristics.
