The first coin, 2 Euro 2020 of Luxembourg, will be dedicated to the “Bicentenary of the birth of Prince Henry”.

Heinrich of Orange-Nassau (born Willem Frederick Heinrich of Orange-Nassau) was born on 13 July 1820 at Sustdijk Palace, Barn, Netherlands. He became the third son and child in the family of the Crown Prince of the Netherlands and Luxembourg Willem and his wife Anna Pavlovna, daughter of the Russian Emperor Paul I. By that time, the family already had two sons: Willem (future king Willem III) and Prince Alexander. On his mother's side, Henry was the nephew of the Russian emperors Alexander I and Nicholas I, and also a cousin of Alexander II. At birth he received the name Willem Frederik Hendrik van Oranje-Nassau with the title “His Royal Highness the Prince of the Netherlands and Orange-Nassau”.

On June 10, 1834 he was awarded the Order of St. Andrew the First-Called.

Prince Heinrich served in the Netherlands Navy. In 1840, his father became king of the Netherlands and died in 1849. Henry's brother Willem III ascended the throne. After that, he appointed his brother governor of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg, which he was until the end of his life. Heinrich's residence was Walferdeng Palace, where the prince died in 1879. The palace is now part of the University of Luxembourg.
