The coin is 10 rubles, Veliky Novgorod in a series of City of Military Glory (WAN) released on October 1, 2012.

Veliky Novgorod - one of the oldest Russian cities. As Kiev is called the mother of Russian cities, so Novgorod called the Father of Russian cities. In 2009, it was noted the 1150th anniversary of Novgorod the Great, but the city is actually much more ancient. The honorary title of City of Military Glory (WAN) is assigned to the Decree of President of the Russian Federation "For courage, steadfastness and mass heroism the defenders of the city, in the struggle for freedom and independence of the Motherland."
