The coin is 10 rubles, Anapa from the series Cities of Military Glory (WAN) released on October 9, 2014.

Anapa - a small resort town on the Black Sea coast. But this city is deservedly awarded the title "City of Military Glory." In Anapa is a monument in honor of this event, and on the Walk of Fame in Moscow Military contain the name of this wonderful city.

Residents of Anapa during the Great Patriotic War showed courage, loyalty and heroism, steadfastness in the struggle for victory. From the first day of the war the port and border town was transferred to the military situation. Residents of the city of Anapa regiment formed in 1177, entered the 347 Infantry Division. Those who could not serve in the army, bought food, clothes for men, collected funds for weapons. In Anapa airport located Fighter Regiment. Anapa bombed, destroyed many businesses and homes.

In spite of the heroic resistance of the defenders of the city, Anapa was taken by German and Romanian troops. Began executions, torture, young people drove to hard labor in Germany. But the inhabitants of the city did not surrender. They organized guerrilla units, blew up bridges, railways, ammunition and fuel, damaged communication lines, scouting the number and location of the fascist troops. Young boys from the underground group "Dawn" installed in the basement of the station listened to reports "SovInformBureau" and reported to the city about what is really going on at the front. On the coast of Anapa often landed Soviet landings, causing the enemy to panic.

The city was liberated in September 1943.

The honorary title of City of Military Glory (WAN) is assigned to the Decree of President of the Russian Federation "For courage, steadfastness and mass heroism the defenders of the city, in the struggle for freedom and independence of the Motherland."
