Slovenia, a country rich in natural resources, is proud of its biodiversity. More than 35% of the entire territory of Slovenia is included in the network of specially protected natural areas. Slovenia is known as a country using the "unique method of beekeeping", characterized by wide varieties of honey, most of which is produced by native Slovenian species of Honey bees. The country has always been at the forefront of the EU in raising awareness of the importance of bees in the lives of people and our planet.

May 20 World Bees Day. May is the month when the breeding of bees in the Northern Hemisphere is in full swing. Bee colony swarms, participating in a natural way of reproduction. This coincides with the peak, from the point of view of need, in the pollination of many plants. In the southern hemisphere, May is autumn, when bee products are collected.

In Slovenia, May 20 is known as the birthday of Anton Jansch (1734-1773), a pioneer of modern beekeeping. Yansha was the first teacher of modern beekeeping in the world, he was appointed Empress of the Habsburg Maria Theresa in the first school of beekeeping in Vienna.
