The Erie Canal is a canalized waterway in New York State that links the Great Lakes system to the Atlantic Ocean via the Hudson River.
The length of the canal from the city of Buffalo on Lake Erie to the city of Cohos at the confluence of the canalized Mohawk River with the Hudson River is over 540 km. Width - about 50 m

Obverse: In the center is the Statue of Liberty in profile, to the left of which is the official US motto "IN GOD WE TRUST", to the right - the face value of the coin "1 dollar" ("$1"). At the bottom of the obverse are the designer's initials "JK" and "PH".

Reverse: A horse-drawn packet boat traversing the Erie Canal. It is dragged by horse along the canal from the city in the East to the rural areas of the West.

Edge: Smooth with inscription (* In God We Trust * E Pluribus Unum * year of minting and mint stamp).
