1 Dollar from the American Innovation series. Bluegrass music. (Kentucky). 2022
The sixteenth U.S. Innovative $1 coin in this series, representing Kentucky, Bill Monroe and the bluegrass music movement.
The history of the bluegrass music genre can be traced back to the 1600s. Then the first settlers from Ireland, Scotland and England brought to America the main musical instruments and styles that are usually considered the roots of the modern bluegrass genre.
Since most of these people settled in remote areas, their songs reflected life on a farm or in the mountains. This music was often called country - country or mountain music. Its further development included a mixture of elements of gospel and blues, which were popular among people of African descent who lived in the Mississippi Delta region.
Obverse: In the center is the Statue of Liberty in profile, to the left of which is the official US motto "IN GOD WE TRUST", to the right - the face value of the coin "1 dollar" ("$1"). At the bottom of the obverse are the designer's initials "JK" and "PH".
Reverse: banjo musical instrument depicted. Bluegrass is a genre of American rural country music.
