The seventeenth American Innovation $1 coin in this series, representing Tennessee, the Tennessee Valley Authority, issued to celebrate the electrification of the countryside through the Tennessee Valley Authority.
The Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA) is an American federal corporation created as part of Franklin Roosevelt's New Deal - in accordance with a law passed by the US Congress on May 18, 1933; the formal purpose of the creation of the corporation was to provide navigation, flood control, the production of electricity and fertilizer, as well as the economic development of the Tennessee Valley region (as it was especially affected by the Great Depression)
Obverse: In the center is the Statue of Liberty in profile, to the left of which is the official US motto "IN GOD WE TRUST", to the right - the face value of the coin "1 dollar" ("$1"). At the bottom of the obverse are the designer's initials "JK" and "PH".
Reverse: Tennessee farmhouse with newly installed power lines along the road. "TENNESSEE VALLEY AUTHORITY" inscriptions
UNITED STATES OF AMERICA" and "TENNESSEE".
Edge: Smooth with inscription (* In God We Trust * E Pluribus Unum * year of minting and mint stamp).
