Gilbert Islands 1 dollar 2018 Stadssaad Lemkul.

"Stadssaad Lemkul" - It was built in 1914 at the shipyard Johann Tecklenborg in Heestemünde, as a training ship for cadets of the German merchant fleet, called the "Grossgerzug Frederick Augustus."

After the end of World War I, the bark became the trophy of the British army.

In 1921 the sailing ship was bought by the Norwegian Shipping Union, on the initiative of the former member of the Cabinet of Norway (Labor Minister in 1905-1907), the director of the shipping company of the city of Bergen, Christopher Lemkul (Kristofer Lehmkuhl), after which he was renamed.

At the very beginning of World War II, the bark was captured by German troops and in April 1940 it was renamed "Wastwards", used as a food warehouse.

In 1967, the sailboat was bought by the shipowner and tycoon Hilmar Reksten, who in 11 years gave the bark to a specially created Sailing Ship named after Christopher Lemkul (Stiftelsen Seilskip Statsraad Lehmkuhl). Since then, this organization is the owner of the vessel.

In 1978, the Norwegian Parliament passed a resolution to consider Stadssaad Lemkul a national treasure.
