In the upper part - "ACADIA" (Acadia);
In the bottom - on the left "MAINE" (Maine) and on the right "E PLURIBUS UNUM" (the motto of the USA - from many - uniform).
Also in the lower part is the year of coinage in the form of a horizontal inscription "2012".

Acadia is a national park of the United States, one of the twenty most visited reserves. Nature itself has created picturesque paintings on the oceanic shores of Maine: beaches among rocks, ancient lighthouses, transparent forest lakes. The main part of the park occupies almost the entire island of Mount Desert and several small islands along the Atlantic coast.

The creation of the reserve on the site of the current Acadia began a hundred years ago by order of President Woodrow Wilson. The islands were a popular holiday destination for families of American millionaires, many of whom contributed to the arrangement of the park. So John Rockefeller, Jr. sponsored the construction of roads for hiking, horse and bicycle routes.

Today Akadia Park covers an area of 191.8 square kilometers, including roads and trails with a total length of 273 km. The most popular route here is the ring road, winding between the mountains of pink granite in the picturesque surroundings of the eastern part of the island. A distinctive feature of the park is the absence on its territory of cities, towns and hotels. The reserve values the reputation of the territory with the cleanest air, here traffic is prohibited with petrol engines.

Acadia is attractive with a mild temperate climate and diverse vegetation. In the north, coniferous forests predominate, to the south - broad-leaved forests, including unique dwarf oak groves. Among the mountains and forests there are 14 ponds and 10 lakes. The reserve has become home to a variety of mammals and hundreds of bird species, the coasts of the islands are rich in species of edible mollusks. Landscapes of Mount Desert were a source of inspiration for painters of the XIX century and remain attractive for millions of modern tourists.
